The brand was officially called “Alcatel OneTouch” when it launched in Bangladesh. The name Alcatel came from the French company Alcatel-Lucent. In the year 2004, Alcatel-Lucent and a Chinese company called TCL Communication started this mobile phone business together as a joint venture. Later Alcatel-Lucent sold all of its shares to TCL Communications and is no longer related to this brand anymore. But as a part of the deal, TCL communication could still use the brand name Alcatel OneTouch. Later, Finish company Nokia bought this company in 2016. But the license of TCL communication will expire in 2024. So, TCL is still involved in the business.

    What Makes It Different?

Alcatel mobiles are famous for their stylish look, attractive design and elegant cut. It also offers smartphones in a wide range of price. They are always up-to-date with the latest technology and till now selling devices in the Android operating system. Alcatel phones are trusted in the Bangladeshi market, and they have authorized dealers all over the country. It is a brand for people of all age, class, and budget. Alcatel OneTouch Idol X, X+, Hero, Hero 2 were some of their most classy devices when they first arrived in the country. As a very low budget smartphone, they launched the Firefox OS running Fire C which was also quite successful in Bangladeshi market for its price and quality.

The current State of Alcatel in Bangladesh

Alcatel started to struggle regarding sales after more globally recognized brands enter this market. But since Nokia is backing up the company, they didn’t give up like many other brands. They are still producing fine quality phones, starting marketing campaigns now and then, and offering excellent service to the consumers of Bangladesh. It makes us believe that Alcatel still has a strong chance and potential to give a great comeback with their new phones soon.
